Course Description

When you need secure, audit-trailed data with repeat visits and multiple users, REDCap is the tool. This level walks you through creating a project, designing instruments, importing a data dictionary, and setting up branching logic, longitudinal events and user rights.

Who this level is for

Data managers, coordinators and PIs running clinical or longitudinal studies with institutional REDCap access. Recommended after Levels 1-2; a demo instance can be provided.

What you'll learn

  • What REDCap is and when to choose it over ODK (secure, audit trails, longitudinal, project management)
  • How to create a classic or longitudinal project and design instruments in the Online Designer
  • How to build a data dictionary in Excel and import it as a CSV
  • Branching logic: showing and hiding fields based on previous answers
  • Repeating instruments and events for longitudinal studies (baseline, follow-up, monthly visits)
  • User roles and permissions (least privilege), plus logging, audit trails and Data Access Groups for multi-site work

You finish with: A test REDCap project with branching logic and a longitudinal structure.
