Course Description
If your measurements are off, everything you build on top of them is fiction. This level teaches you to choose the right variables and measure them precisely, so your numbers mean exactly what you think they mean. It is the quiet craft that separates polished studies from ones that fall apart under review.
Who this level is for
Anyone who will collect or work with study data: researchers, clinicians, data collectors, analysts and program staff, at any level. No heavy maths, the focus is intuition and practical technique. Recommended after Levels 1-3.
What you'll learn
- Why measurement quality directly decides the strength of your conclusions
- Numeric versus categorical variables, and how to choose the most informative scale
- What precision really is, where random error comes from, and how to assess it
- Practical ways to improve precision: standard protocols, observer training, calibration and repetition
You finish with: Your variable list + measurement plan (draft).
