Data Cleaning, Export and Study Closeout

The capstone. This level closes the data life cycle: routine quality checks and query management in your actual tools, then the documentation, exports, backups and study closeout that make your data analysis-ready, shareable and safe for the long term.

Who this level is for

Data managers, coordinators and PIs responsible for data quality, exports and archiving. Recommended after Levels 1-4.

What you'll learn

• A routine data-quality plan: what to check (range, missing, inconsistent values, outliers) and when
• Automated checks in ODK/Kobo (constraints, required, calculate) and REDCap's Data Quality tools
• Manual checks and a query workflow: what, who, when, and keeping raw data raw while cleaning with scripts
• Building data dictionaries, codebooks and README files that document coding, units and derived variables
• Exporting for analysis (R, Stata, CSV), de-identification basics and linking multiple forms
• Backup, security and long-term preservation, and how to lock, archive and hand over a study at closeout
