Course Description
AI can support different stages of a research project when it is used for clearly defined tasks. This level follows the research process from question development to dissemination. Learners will use AI to explore a topic, refine a research question, organise literature, review a protocol, develop study documents, think through variables and analysis plans, and improve scientific communication. Each activity includes a clear point at which the researcher must review the evidence and make the scientific decision.
Who this level is for
Researchers, clinicians, students, postgraduate trainees, study coordinators and research teams who want to use AI in routine research work. Recommended after Levels 1 and 2 and particularly useful alongside the other ECORM courses.
What you'll learn
- How AI can support exploration of a research problem without replacing literature review
- How AI can help review and refine research questions and objectives
- How to use AI to review study protocols and identify missing elements
- How AI can assist with variable dictionaries, case report forms and study documentation
- How to use AI to organise literature while verifying information against original sources
- Appropriate roles for AI in systematic review tasks and the steps that still require researcher verification
- How to use AI in scientific writing while retaining authorship and intellectual responsibility
- How AI can support abstracts, presentations, reports and other research communication
- How to record and disclose where AI was used in a research project
You finish with: A documented AI supported workflow covering your own research project from question development to dissemination.
